Flexible Spending Accounts

EXL offers three types of Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) through Inspira, which you can use to pay for eligible healthcare and dependent care expenses on a pre-tax basis.

Healthcare FSA

If you enroll in the HRA or Premium (PPO) plans for medical coverage, you’re eligible to contribute up to $3,400 in pre-tax dollars to the Healthcare FSA, which you can use to pay for eligible out-of-pocket medical, dental, vision and prescription drug expenses. A full list of eligible expenses is available in
IRS Publication 502.

Funds in the Healthcare FSA are available at the beginning of the plan year and can be used for your expenses and those of your spouse and dependents, even if you and your family aren’t covered by an EXL healthcare plan.

Estimate Your Contributions Carefully

You must incur expenses between January 1, 2027 and December 31, 2027. If you have any money remaining in your account after December 31, 2027, you can carry over up to $680 to your 2028 account. Any amount that exceeds $680 will be forfeited. You have until March 31, 2028 to submit your claims for reimbursement.

Manage Your FSA

Here’s how you can use your FSA to pay for eligible healthcare expenses:

  • Pay yourself back. Pay for eligible expenses with cash, a check or your personal credit card. Then withdraw funds from your FSA to pay yourself back.
  • Pay your provider with the Inspira Card®. When you use it, your expense is automatically paid from your account.
  • Use the Inspira Mobile app to:
    • Manage your account and view alerts.
    • Snap a photo of your receipts to submit claims.
    • Use our barcode scanner to verify eligible items in-store.

Limited-Purpose FSA

If you enroll in the Health Savings Plan for medical coverage, you are eligible to enroll in the Limited-Purpose FSA. IRS rules state that you cannot have both an HSA and Healthcare FSA to pay for eligible healthcare expenses. The Limited-Purpose FSA allows you to contribute up to $3,400 in pre-tax dollars to pay for eligible dental and vision expenses only. For a complete list of eligible expenses, visit inspirafinancial.com.

Funds in the Limited-Purpose FSA are available at the beginning of the plan year.

Dependent Care FSA

A Dependent Care FSA allows you to set aside pre-tax dollars to pay for eligible day care expenses you have so you or your spouse can work or attend school full-time. You can contribute up to $7,500 to the Dependent Care FSA (up to $3,750 if you are married and file separate tax returns).

Note: EXL performs annual non-discrimination testing on the Dependent Care FSA plan per IRS regulations. This ensures that the plan does not disproportionately benefit highly compensated employees over other employees. In the event of non-compliance, contributions may need to be adjusted during the year.
