Enrollment

Enrolling as a Current Employee

If you’re a current employee, you must enroll in benefits during Annual Enrollment. Held each fall, Annual Enrollment offers you an opportunity to review your benefit elections and covered dependents and make changes for the coming year.

Enrolling as a New Hire

If you’re new to EXL, you must enroll in benefits within 30 days from the date you receive your benefit enrollment notice to have coverage for the rest of the plan year. To learn more about enrolling as a new hire, visit the New to EXL Page.

International Transfers

If you are an International Transfer without a Social Security Number at this time, you are still required to make your elections within this 30-day window. If you choose not to enroll, regardless of your immigration status, your next opportunity to enroll or make changes to your benefits will be during the next Annual Enrollment (unless you experience a qualified status change). If you purchased International Travel Insurance, it is not guaranteed that your EXL benefits coverage can coordinate with it when it ends. Please review your offer letter to see when your benefits will begin.

Making Changes During the Year

Outside of Annual Enrollment, you can only change your benefits during the year after a qualified status change. Examples include:

  • Birth, legal adoption, or placement for adoption.
  • Marriage, divorce, or legal separation.
  • Dependent child reaches age 26.
  • Spouse gains or loses employment or eligibility with current employer.
  • Court-ordered change.
  • Death of spouse or dependent child.
  • Spouse or dependent becomes eligible or ineligible for Medicare/Medicaid or SCHIP.
  • Change in residence that changes eligibility for coverage.

Be sure you enter your qualified status change and provide validating documentation through the EXL Benefits Portal within 31 days of the event. Any change you make to your coverage must be consistent with the change in status. If you miss the 31-day window, you’ll have to wait until the next Annual Enrollment period to update your benefits.

Eligibility

If you are a full-time employee working at least 30 hours per week, you are eligible for EXL benefits as follows:
  • If you are a salaried employee, coverage currently begins on the first day of the month following your date of hire. Starting January 1, 2027, salaried employees will be eligible for benefits on their date of hire.
  • If you are an hourly employee, coverage begins on the first day of the month following 30 days of employment.

Eligible dependents typically include your legal spouse and dependent children, though specific criteria vary by benefit. For more information, see our Dependent Eligibility Overview.

Proof of Dependent Eligibility

You will be required to provide proof of eligibility for any new dependent you want to add to your coverage. You’ll receive information about eligibility and documentation requirements after you enroll. EXL may conduct a dependent eligibility audit at any time.

Domestic Partner Coverage

Domestic partners are eligible to enroll as a dependent in the benefit plans. You and your partner must meet specific criteria to qualify for domestic partner coverage. In general, employee premium contributions for domestic partners must be deducted from your pay on an after-tax basis (not pre-tax). The premium value of coverage for domestic partners, less the premium amount you pay after-tax, will be shown as taxable benefits on your pay statement.

How to Enroll

Visit the EXL Benefits Portal from your computer, tablet or smartphone.

If you access the portal from work, you’ll be brought directly to your profile. If you access the portal from home, you’ll need to set up a username and password first. To do so, click “Are you a new user?” and follow the prompts to create your credentials. You must enter these credentials each time you access the portal from home.

Due to Affordable Care Act (ACA) reporting requirements, please remember to add your Social Security number and the Social Security numbers of any dependents during enrollment.
