Getting Married
Congratulations on your nuptials! With a new spouse, you’ll need to decide whether you want to cover them under your EXL benefits. In addition, there are several other benefits and programs they can participate in because they’re now part of your family. You’ll also want to consider whether your spouse has other coverage available to them, like under their employer’s plan.

Do I want to cover my spouse under my EXL medical, dental and/or vision plans or waive coverage and enroll in my spouse’s plans?
Compare your spouse’s medical, dental and vision plan designs and cost with your EXL Health Plans and decide which ones best meet the needs of you and your family.
Do I need to start participating in or increase contributions to my Healthcare Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA), so I can reimburse myself for my spouse’s eligible healthcare expenses?
Carefully estimate eligible healthcare expenses for your spouse when deciding whether to participate in or increase your contributions to your Healthcare FSA or HSA. Keep in mind that you can roll over up to $680 in unused FSA funds that remain in your account at the end of the year. And be sure to factor in whether your spouse is already contributing to a Healthcare FSA. HSA funds will roll over from year to year.
You must re-enroll in your FSA and HSA during Annual Enrollment each year; HSA contributions can also be adjusted throughout the year.
Do I want to purchase Life and/or Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) insurance for my spouse?
Review your Life and AD&D Insurance coverage options and decide if you want to purchase insurance for your spouse. Note that if you enroll in coverage during a qualified life event, your spouse will not have to provide Evidence of Insurability (EOI) for coverage up to $50,000; amounts over $50,000 require EOI. If you want to enroll in or increase coverage after your qualified life event, EOI will be required.
Should I update my beneficiaries for my Life and AD&D Insurance and my 401(k) Plan?
Since you have a new spouse, be sure to review your current beneficiaries for your Life and AD&D insurance and make changes on the EXL Benefits Portal. You can review and update your 401(k) plan beneficiaries on Fidelity’s Website. Beneficiaries can be updated at any time.
What do I need to do to add my spouse to my coverage?
Visit the EXL Benefits Portal to review and make changes to your benefits due to your marriage life event. Be sure to have your marriage certificate, your spouse’s date of birth and your spouse’s Social Security Number handy. Changes must be made within 31 days of the date of marriage.
Divorce
Divorce may affect eligibility for coverage under EXL’s benefit plans. Visit the EXL Benefits Portal within 31 days of the divorce to report the event and make any permitted changes, like removing your spouse from coverage and updating beneficiaries. Any changes must be consistent with the event.
Note: You will need to provide supporting documentation, such as a divorce decree.
Birth or Adoption
Congratulations on expanding your family! Whether you’re planning a pregnancy, are already pregnant, having difficulty becoming pregnant, considering adoption or even want to add a four-legged member to the family, EXL offers various benefits and programs to support you during this exciting time in your life.

Do I need benefits coverage for my new baby? Or are they eligible for coverage under their other parent or other available coverage?
To choose the plan that best meets your child’s needs, compare your EXL Health Plan Coverage options with other available plans. Note that even if you already cover another child under your plan, you’ll need to decide if you want to enroll your new child under your EXL plan.
Do we have financial security today? What about plans for the future?
If you’re not already contributing to the 401(k) Plan, you may want to start. If you are contributing, review your current contribution rate and determine if it’s enough to achieve your future financial goals. Take advantage of the tools Fidelity provides to help plan for your financial future.
Also, decide if you want to enroll in Life and/or AD&D insurance to provide financial protection for your family in case you get injured or pass away.
Will I need medical intervention to assist in my family building journey?
Review your benefits under your Medical Plan to determine if the type of medical intervention you need is covered.

Do I need benefits coverage for my new pet?
Costs associated with maintaining the health of your pet can add up quickly. EXL offers Pet Insurance Coverage through Nationwide for expenses related to accidents, X-rays, surgeries, prescriptions and hospitalization after an annual deductible is met.
Gain or Loss of Coverage
If you or an eligible dependent gain or lose other coverage, you may be able to update your EXL benefits. This may include a change in coverage through a spouse’s or domestic partner’s employer or a change in eligibility for Medicare, Medicaid or the Children’s Health Insurance Program.
Make your changes through the EXL Benefits Portal within 31 days of the gain or loss of coverage. You will need to provide documentation that shows when the other coverage began or ended, and any changes must be consistent with the event. If you miss the deadline, you generally must wait until the next Annual Enrollment period to update your benefits.
Newly Hired
As a new hire, you have 30 days from the date you receive your benefit enrollment notice to enroll in benefits for the current plan year. If you don’t enroll within this time period, you must wait until the next Annual Enrollment period. The only exception is if you experience a qualified status change during the year, such as getting married or welcoming a new child. To learn more about enrolling as a new hire, visit the New to EXL Page.

If You Transfer to the U.S.
- Enroll in EXL benefits within 30 days of your transfer to the U.S. You can use your temporary Social Security number to enroll. If you do not enroll within the required window, you may need to obtain your own insurance coverage to meet visa requirements.
- If you are a full-time salaried employee, coverage begins on the first day of the month following your transfer date. If you are a full-time hourly employee, coverage begins on the first day of the month following 30 days from your transfer date. Your traveler’s insurance may cover certain medical needs during the transition.
- If you enroll in the Health Savings Plan for medical coverage, wait until you receive your government-issued Social Security number before opening a Health Savings Account. A valid Social Security number is required to establish the account.
If You Transfer Outside the U.S.
- Your U.S. medical, dental and vision coverage ends on the last day of the month in which you transfer. International care is not covered under these plans. Refer to your termination letter for detail on all coverage end dates.
- Your EXL 401(k) Savings Plan contributions will stop after your final U.S. paycheck. If you have an account balance, you will become eligible for a distribution once you have terminated or retired from EXL. Review the EXL 401(k) Summary Plan Description or contact Fidelity for information about your options.
Termination
If you leave EXL, your termination materials will outline what happens next, including when your benefits end and whether you have options to continue or convert coverage.

Eligible Flexible Spending Account, Health Savings Account and commuter benefit expenses must be incurred by your last day of employment.
Can I continue my coverage?
You may be eligible to continue medical, dental and vision coverage through COBRA for up to 18 months. You will pay the full premium plus a 2% administrative charge. Alight Solutions will send information about your continuation options and costs after your coverage ends.
Certain supplemental benefits may be continued or converted to individual coverage. Your termination materials will explain the options and deadlines that apply.
What happens to my 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan account?
You may receive or roll over the vested balance. If your balance is $7,000 or less, you must request a distribution or roll the balance over to another qualified plan. Otherwise, Fidelity will issue a cash distribution at the end of the calendar year. If your balance is more than $7,000, you may request a distribution, roll it over or leave it in the EXL 401(k) Retirement Savings Plan.
What happens to my Health Savings Account?
Any money in your Health Savings Account remains yours when you leave EXL. You can continue using the available balance for qualified healthcare expenses.

When can I start receiving distributions from my 401(k)?
You can start receiving distributions without penalty after age 59-1/2. You are required to take a minimum distribution after age 72.
If I have a Health Savings Account (HSA), can I use the funds to pay for healthcare expenses I have in retirement?
Yes, you can use funds in your HSA to pay for healthcare expenses in retirement. Once you reach age 65, you can also use your HSA to pay for any non-qualified medical expenses; however, you’ll have to pay state and federal taxes on those distributions.
