How to Request a Leave
To request a Leave of Absence, you must provide your supervisor and the Benefits team (Leaves@exlservice.com) with notice of your intention to take leave at least 30 days in advance (or if the leave was not foreseeable, as soon as possible). You will receive information from the Benefits Department about any forms or other documentation that may be required and any other actions you must take to take leave.
You must also report your leave to our leave of absence administrator, Prudential. To do so, you can either:
-
- Call 877-FOR-PRU (877-367-7781) Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. ET. You can speak to an absence professional or follow the prompts to record your leave of absence information.
- Log in to prudential.com/mybenefits. Click Claims and Absence and then File a Claim/Report an Absence. There, you can input your information and download any necessary forms.
Medical Leave
If you’re unable to work because of your own serious health condition, illness, injury or medical treatment, you may qualify for a medical leave of absence. Under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), eligible employees generally receive up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave in a 12-month period. Leave may be taken all at once or intermittently depending on your situation.
As medical leave is unpaid, you may be able to use Disability Insurance benefits and/or paid time off to continue a portion of your income while you’re away. The amount and timing of any pay depend on your situation, applicable plan provisions and company policies.
Disability Insurance
Disability insurance provides financial protection if you are unable to work because of a non-work-related illness or injury. EXL provides Short-Term and Long-Term Disability insurance at no cost to you.
Short-Term Disability Insurance
Short-Term Disability Insurance provides continuing income if you are sick or injured and unable to work for a short period of time.
- Benefits Begin. After seven calendar days.
- Benefit Amount. 66.67% of your weekly pay, up to a maximum benefit of $3,000 per week.
- Benefit Duration. 25 weeks.
Long-Term Disability Insurance
Long-Term Disability Insurance through Prudential provides continuing income if you are sick or injured and cannot work for an extended period.
- Benefits Begin. After 180 days of disability.
- Benefit Amount. 60% of your monthly earnings, up to a maximum of $14,000 per month (minimum monthly benefit of $100). This is a taxable income benefit.
- Benefit Duration. Generally benefits can continue until age 65.
Note: In accordance with the provisions of the Long-Term Disability Insurance policy, your benefit payment is offset by any benefit received under an EXL defined benefit pension plan, Social Security or other statutory benefit program. If your disability is due strictly to a work-related injury, Workers’ Compensation benefits are an offset to the Long-Term Disability benefit. Disability benefits are not automatic. All claims are subject to approval by the insurance carrier.
Maternity and Parental Leaves
EXL offers two paid leave programs to support new parents.
- Maternity Leave: Provides up to eight weeks of paid leave to employees who give birth.
- Parental Leave: Provides up to four weeks of paid leave to help you bond with a newly born, adopted or foster-placed child. If you give birth, you may use Parental Leave in addition to Maternity Leave. Eligible spouses, domestic partners, adoptive parents and foster parents may also qualify for Parental Leave.
Note: The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) provides up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave for childbirth and bonding. EXL Maternity and Parental Leaves run concurrently with FMLA when applicable.
Care for Others
When a spouse, child, parent or other qualifying family member has a serious health condition, you may need time away from work to provide care, attend medical appointments or help manage their treatment and recovery. Eligible employees may receive up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave under the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA). Leave may be taken continuously or intermittently depending on your situation.
As this leave is unpaid, you may be able to use paid time off to continue a portion of your income while you’re away.
Workers’ Compensation
Workers’ compensation provides benefits if you experience a work-related injury or illness. Coverage may include payment of approved medical expenses and weekly compensation payments during the covered period. EXL provides Workers’ Compensation coverage at no cost to employees.
If you’re injured at work, no matter how minor the injury may seem, report it immediately to your supervisor and the Human Resources Department so your claim can be reviewed and processed promptly. Failure to follow Company procedures may affect your ability to receive Workers’ Compensation benefits.
